Baja California Earthquake a Non-Event

This morning at 11:53 a.m. our time a major earthquake struck in the middle of the Sea of Cortez approximately 140 km or 85 miles north east of La Paz.  It registered 6.9 on the Richter Scale, but we were unaware that it even happened until we heard about it over the VHF radio about 15 minutes later.  We quickly went to the US Geological Survey website (USGS.gov) to find out if we had real problems - especially since Michael is in the States on business and the kids and I are alone on the boat.  Luckily, no warnings, no tsunamis, and no worries. We tightened our dock lines, continued on with homeschooling, and we're good to go.

Signing off from La Paz,
Barbara
